Story Of A Star, by Don't build lies on ice cubes. Subscribe to rss feed for Don't build lies on ice cubes.

Everyday she did as she was told
She bowed to their wishes
Allowed herself to mould

She tried to change but didnt know who to
She confused herself
Not knowing what was true

She forgot her mind as she tried her best
So she ended up
Like all of the rest

One day she sat at the mirror not knowing who she saw
It was then she realised
She could be so much more

The voice of her mind begand to return
And it taught her lessons
She never knew she could learn

She went to the garden and looked up at a star
Whispering to it
One day i'll be where you are

She realised that star would never let her down
for ti was certain
It would always be around

From the day she'd been born
To the day she would die
That star would shine in the nightsky

From this she drew comfort and it helped move on
For it offered the stability
Which she needed to be strong

She's stronger than yesterday
She's weaker than tomorrow
Yet she treasures the good and lets go off the sorrow

The years began to pass and she started to grow old
And still there were those people
Who were desperate to mould

People came and went and some she did love
But still her comfort came
From that star up above

She then met a man
Who said stay as you are
For it is impossible to shape any star

He saw into her and knew all she could be
And she knew herself
He was the only one to see

They lived together and life moved on
She would smile in the knowledge
that her star had not gone

One day she awoke with a feeling of dread
For she knew by the end of the day
She'd be dead

She called him to her
On her very last night
And together they looked at her star shining bright

He held her close and she whispered to he
As she died in his arms
'That's where i'll be'

So if you are sad
And life is dragging on
Take a glance to the sky where loved ones have gone

Someone will help you find out who you are
Because, after all
Only the true are a star
