I Saw A Ship Go Sailing By On New Years Day, by Don't build lies on ice cubes. Subscribe to rss feed for Don't build lies on ice cubes.

I saw a ship come sailing in on new years day in the
morning

I watched it from the shore
It made me catch my breath
Rested upon the beach before me
In it's youth

I boarded a ship that came sailing in on new years day in
the morning

The ship and I we were but two
As we dreamed beneath the sky
Life laid out before us
An open adventure to behold

I lost a ship that came sailing in on new years day in the
morning

The water had grown rough
And I fell from my highest deck
Looked around and could not see
The ship that took my breath

I swam by a ship that came sailing in on new years day in
the morning

But the morning turned to night
And I swam in the dark
Whilst I was drowning
My ship was sailing

I saw a ship go sailing out on new years day in the morning

I reached the shore again at last
Looked for my ship beside
Turned and saw it sail into the sun
Whilst my eyes burned from the salt and light

I saw a ship disappear on new years day in the morning

I watched until I could no longer see
The ship as it sailed away
It disappeared into the horizon
Whilst upon the shore I stayed

I wait for a ship to come sailing in on new years day in the
morning

Upon the shore I pull my legs to my chest
I sit and wait for my ships return
And when it does it will stay
For we shall no longer pass in the night

And whilst I know I may turn grey
My ship will start to age
I shall sit and wait for its return
For I can not lose it again

I absolutely love this poem! I love the way it's written and the symolicism behind it!!
