Maria stood at the dawn of beginning
Her heart laid out in her hand
She ventured forward step by step
Making footprints in the sand
But then she saw him standing there
The one recieving her token
And she stumbled as the tide washed by
Her heart dropped to the shore now broken
She desperately tried to piece it together
As he turned and walked away
And she cried her tears into the depth of the sea
Pleading for him to stay
She picked herself up without her heart
Then sprinted across the shore
Yet her foot never touched his shadow
And her heart he never saw
So crumbling to the earth she fell
With the sun burning her paled cheek
Through the bright surroundings
She stared to a future bleak
Now he has gone to live another life
Than the one that was with her
And for one hesitation she pays the price
The lonely girl that was Maria
