They symbolise a bandage, to help heal the wounds, numbing the discomfort, making it easier to move, when the bandage isnt there, you cant help but scratch the itch, so the bandage again is needed, comming as a kiss, the bandage will never know, how used it has become to hide an even deeper cut, that it cannot heal alone.
