My Road

In the beginning my road was bumpy
Filled with deep holes and large rocks
My shoes were also quite lumpy
And I didn't wear any socks

Traveling on my road was a trial
For I was just beginning you see
Moving the rocks , filling the holes every mile
Was really quite hard for me

I had friends that traveled with me
I learned much from them along the way
Even so we didn't always agree
But we were a colorful Bouquet

As the years went by my friends became few
Not so many on my road with me
For I learned teachings that were knew
I wondered about friends but spirit said,"let it be"

More years went by, I was just one
My path now smooth and serene
Much easier now than when I'd begun
It was all a different scene

I took off my shoes for they were mighty worn
And walked with bare feet on my road
It was like I was newly born
I was no longer a toad

My road was smooth, all obstacles gone
I could see the end up ahead
Yes there was a brightly lit dawn
And I continued to tread

Now I am there at the end of my road
And happy as happy can be
About to enter my new abode
A ship that's not of the sea.
