Riddle: Guess Who/What (Poem), by YourEyesMyWords Subscribe to rss feed for YourEyesMyWords

Riddle:

You don't know me,
Yet you think you do.
See right through me,
Listen to my dead heart beat.

The silence of my soul,
Traps many.
Isolation is nothing new,
And secrets are never told.

You yell at me,
And expect me to say something back.
Yet you don't realize,
I've been caught up in the addictive silence.

I keep people hidden,
The same as their words.
I've watched you grow up.
From the light blue/pink colors,
To the dark colors you call "emo."

I've had holes onto my heart,
Right through my chest.
I've been punched and kicked around,
Till everything starts to fall apart.

Yet I painted over the bruises,
And cover up the holes.
All the scratches,
And the writing on my mind,
Is gone...

Yet the emotions inside me,
Change as well.
Some things,
Are forgotten.
Yet others,
Are never lost.

I've seen you smile,
And I've seen you cry.
I've watched you grow,
And I've watched you die.

I know...
Everyone's story...
Yet it happens to be confidential,
And cannot tell a soul.

I've had people rely on me,
And bang their heads on my chest.
As the tears fall onto their chin,
I can't wipe them away,
As for I am frozen...

But if you wish to know my name,
I could never open my mouth,
Nor let go of my words.
Yet I stand,
Above all,
But my voice lies shuttered away...

Can you guess who I am?
