Beyond The Purple Hills, by Lunaria Subscribe to rss feed for Lunaria

So lazily I sit in the sun without a care
While the breeze blows through my flaxen hair
Through the sun's glare I see the purple hills
Although they are far off they give me chills

I wonder what's beyond those purple hills
Will what lay beyond at last be what fulfills
This need in me to wander hither and yon
I wonder as I put my thinking cap on

How far off they seem to my blurry eyes
How beautiful they look against azure skies
Mountains they are though they look like hills
If I could scale them I would get my thrills

What's on the other side of the mountain?
Could it possibly be the youthful fountain?
Or could it just a field of wild flowers?
If so I could sit in their midst and dream for hours

The sun is setting . I must go home
A home from which I never roam
I may surprize you one of these days
And start my old wandering ways.
