if we were meant to be
you would still be with me
so if you want to go ahead
and drown yourself in apathy

pretending to know me
as if you ever could
pretending to want me
it's not as if you would

you'd have her at bay
then she'd turn into a wave
she'd crash down around us
and i'd be the one to pay

for ever believing in a future
for dreaming of a love
if she realized who you are
and it's really her you dreamed of

then she would love you
and you wouldn't want me anymore
so leave me out of this
don't write about it

just forget i ever happened
and shut up about meant to be
just shut the hell up
and don't you dare speak

the pen may be mightier than the sword
but your pen cuts my heart just as well
your not as deep as you claim to be
your just a coward and a typewriter
in the dusty old attic

you aren't what you said to me
