Son, by Darren Oxton Subscribe to rss feed for Darren Oxton

Could I ever forget that day?
The first time you opened your eyes,
Like shiny blue marbles,
Glowing,
Amidst the flicker of an incandescent light,
You weren't all that noisy,
As I can recall
And I smiled and beamed with pride,
As you kicked out, and stretched your legs,
Gasping for the first time,
Consuming your first breath of air,
Pondering this strange, alien world all around you,

Who were these people?
Who is this man?
I wrapped a blanket around you,
And passed you to your mum,
Beautiful little boy, I thought,
Forever,
Daddy's,
