The Princess and the Lightning God: The Curse of the Animals (No, by LaLa Leo Subscribe to rss feed for LaLa Leo

In the beginning, animals ruled the world. Humans were put
to work as slaves and pets for the dominant animals. The
animals knew that one day there would be a great change as
the stars had foretold. So generation after generation they

awaited this day in agony.

The queen of the Animals, Queen Sarabi, had taken a human
daughter because she couldn't bear children. Queen Sarabi
raised the little human girl up as a princess because she
knew that the little princess would soon take her place.
She named the human princess, Laura.

Soon Princess Laura was old enough to attain the crown.
Queen Sarabi was slowly dying and the respect of her
animals was lost because the animals didn't want a human
ruler. Princess Laura loved the animals she grew up around
and had fallen madly in love with the Lightning God. She
craved so badly to be his goddess, but was too frightenened

to tell her mother.

Princess Laura told the animals of her dilemma hoping to
get guidance. The animals frowned down upon her and told
her an evil suggestion. The animals told her to kill her
mother and attain the crown. She thanked the animals
graciously. The animals smiled evilly thinking of their
great Queen Sarabi being dead and being free to do with the

princess as they wish. The Lightning God visited Princess
Laura after the act of murder was done. Princess Laura had
mixed feelings about the Lightning God and her beautiful
mother now dead. She was thinking about whether it was
worth it or not and decided it was done for her true love.

The next day, Princess Laura was to acquire her crown and
be formally married to become a goddess. She was so excited

she couldn't sleep, so she took a walk. The people were
gathered at the church decorating for the upcoming wedding.

They were whispering and plotting to kill someone. One of
the animals said, "We have to get rid of her or she'll be
the end of our world!" Another said, "I agree. She must die

tomorrow!" She had no idea whom they were talking about,
but she was frightened for them.

All of a sudden, lightning bolts struck through the sky
almost like a warning. She gazed up and saw her love
warning her of something bad to come. She hurried back to
her palace as dawn was arriving. She changed into her most
elegant gown for the Crowning ceremony and hurried to the
meeting hall.

When she arrived, the animals closed the door abruptly
behind her. She was startled and demanded fearfully to know

what was going on. Their eyes turned bloodshot red as they
went into a hunting mode. She stepped backward knowing it
was all over, visualizing her love's face and feeling her
mother's presence.

Surprisingly, the roof of the meeting hall was destroyed by

a great light, and the Lightning God came down on his
elegant chariot to rescue his love. She jumped into his
arms with her eyes filled with tears and they departed
leaving the animals awestruck and baffled.

They flew up and up and up and were never saw again in form

by the animals, Queen Laura the goddess and the Lightning
God were seen vividly in the sky. The great change had come

and it was horrible for the animals. Queen Laura changed
the animal world upside down as they ran around in a hectic

frenzy. The animals and the humans were switched. The
humans became dominant. That was the last time Queen Laura
and the Lightning God were seen. The world was changed as
the stars foretold and was to be that way forevermore.
Thunder and lightning came to remind the animals and humans

of their places in the world and how it changed forever...
