3 am on a school night
been lying here for hours
tossing and turning
stretching and curling
begging to be asleep

i want to cry with frustration
but am too exhausted to try
punching the pillow
and kicking the duvet
begging to be asleep

inside im screaming
and my head is reeling
too hot
then too cold
begging to be asleep

so this is insomnia
the feelings unreal
no one understands
the way that i feel

the failure in my mind
is way too raw for me
no way to escape this torment
so ill still lie here at 3
