Aches & Pains, by Imagine Subscribe to rss feed for Imagine

I'm an old lady,
with old aches and pains.

Theres a sore in my foot,
that wont go away.

I've had my TB shot today,
mexican lady didnt hold the pain at bay.

Got two free cancer shots,
wasnt supposed to.

"Its free," she said,
now I have to go annually.

Injected a bubble into my wrist.
its a booboo that cant be kissed.

Needs to be checked in 48 hours,
God I hope the results are sunshine and flowers.

Ache in my foot.
Shoots up my thigh.

Prickles my ankle.
Ends sky high.

During the immunization,
I screamed so loud.

"People will think its me whose hurting you," she said,
but at the moment I'd rather be dead.

Mama got upset,
mexican lady wasnt supposed to do that.

HPV,
anti-cancer,
dont care, dont care,
dont wanna chat.

Bruise in my leg.
Blood on my wrist.
Dandruff in hair.
Chapped lips.
Numb feet.
Rotten gut.
Dehydrated skin.
Injured arm.

I'm so fragile,
wrap me in balm.

Old lady, old lady,
please go away.

Its not my time yet,
when it is I'll scream "HAY!"

"Come now, its not my time,
what do you want to go away,
quarters, nickels, pennies,
surely not dimes."

I'm not even in my prime.
Take my pain,
throw it far,
close the door,
which stands ajar.
Lock it deep.
Into your breast.
Let me have a breath of fresh air,
whooshing through my chest.

My tree is gnarled.
Yours is ash.
Dont take me yet.
Dont dont dont
act rash.

Soothe my aches,
heal my wounds,
give me a break.

I'm young at heart.
My minds still fresh.

"Little one,
tithen-pen,
worry not,
I'll increase your health,
by fifty and ten.
And when,
you're feeling old and wrinkled,
my little hen,
hesitaten not,
to send,
a little wish,
a little cry,
I'll cradle you in life,
my wondrous den,
I'll clean you up,
Amen."
