On Your Own, by Tyler Cedric Golden Subscribe to rss feed for Tyler Cedric Golden

You’ve made your choice and I’ve made mine,
Now it’s time to move independently and make your own self
shine,
Dependent you’ve been on me to help lead and open up the
path in which you have slowly but surely walked,
A lot we’ve done together and been through all the times
we went places and talked,
But now you are to go by your own knowledge and experience
of life,
Don’t get upset and scared about this independence and try
to disrespect me and fight,
Your old enough now, time to find your own destination in
life and lead it the way you want to,
Don’t sit there looking all strange and confused like you
don’t know what to do,
If you want a good start go make plenty of honest friends,
Fight your way through life and don’t give in until the
end,
Go own courageously and remember to plan things ahead,
You better watch it and listen to what I tell you, or you
might end up dead,
I know this sounds strict and some what imitating,
But don’t worry just go ahead and move on and quit
hesitating,
Because there are plenty of things in life to go out and
enjoy,
You’re older now so go make some friends, you’re done
with toys,
You have done very well and I am very proud of your
success,
Just promise me as you walk your own road in life and as
obstacles come, that you will never give up, and always try
your best!

1st. i must say i love the depth of your poetry. it is stated quite well and it really reaches out to the reader. Very nice. Second. this is probably one of my favorites of yours. i like the way you can almost leave this open to anyone of any case. If you're young it relates to the idea that things will change or something of that sort. but then if you are older. it kind of gives you a nice memory or thought to think of from your past.
