my smile is my mask
i'm always wearing it
my smile is my wall
i hide behind it
i smile when i'm happy
i smile when i'm sad
i smile when i'm hurt
i smile when i'm scared
but most of all,
i smile when i think of you
because i feel i need to
hide behind my wall
and mask the pain i feel
from this infinite sadness
that can't be healed..
my smile is my mask

| This is a wonderful poem. My smile has been my mask my whole life and it was nice to see it conveyed this way. Maybe it isn't a bad thing. Maybe it is good that we can still smile through our sadness, pain, and fears. |
