Corners and Power Lines, by beccamarie
|
The opportunities are seen in the darkness
Seen in the sparkling headlights
They shine like diamonds in the velvety blackness
With the window down I feel the wind whipping by
As frigid as the moments forgotten it slices through my
skin
Heat from the dash warms my body
But refuses to melt my heart
Every mile marker is a reminder of those being left behind
Every road sign a notice of things to come
It's hard to choose the path
Even harder when your mind is left to wander
Hardest when there is no one there beside you.
As you turn the corners
And mind the bends
The road blocks get bigger
And the incline begins
You never get far before another discouragement
Another pole on the side
Another opportunity gone by
Another turn
Another Opportunity
Another light
Another Opportunity
