Unwisely Made Secrets, by set_apart Subscribe to rss feed for set_apart

I am haunted by a promise that I made to someone once;
I agreed to keep a secret, with the wisdom of a dunce.
"Let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No' a wise man
once said;
But now I must choose to break it or not, and so my heart is
shred.
If my mouth I keep shut, this persons life might end.
But if I let my tongue loose, and this secret I lend,
My promise would be for not, and my trustworthiness
disbanded;
I would have killed others trust, and I would have lied,
single handed.
And so my soul is tormented and tortured, because of the
choices I own;
"Knowledge is power" but oh, how I wish, this knowledge I
had not known.

This Poem is very well written and helps a person visualize the agony of keeping a bad secret.
