Country Girl, by Chalan Subscribe to rss feed for Chalan

I yearned to get away from
the slow paced life of the country
and run to the fast paced excitement
of the city.
Where there were shopping malls, more
than ten cars and countless hot boys.
But I soon found myself avoiding the malls,
hating the traffic and a lot of the hot boys
I found to be pigs.
I hated the noise, the city air was pungant
to my nose.
Once again, I yearned for the open land, the
vast blue skies, the fresh air, the gentle breeze
and the glorious sunsets.
I long to gaze upon the purple sea of flax, the
beautiful yellow of Canola, the soft, velvet look
of barley
and to run my hand through golden wheat fields.
The melody of chirping birds and the soft sound
of crickets sounds sweet to my ear.
The dancing northern lights, the brilliant moon
and the countless stars is a magical sight.
Yes, you can take the girl from the country,
but you can't take the country from the girl.
