Final Bow

the opening cord strikes
hidden from the back
she watches the show proceed
they laugh at her and him
things are well
it's a sold out show
hecklers try try try
and fail
the cast is strong
and the show is wonderful
yet she can't help thinking as the arms raise
one, two, three that from this back row of hers
as the clasped hands fall again
this is her last bow
and the curtain swings closed
