The Highwayman 2 (phoenix), by Phoenix_Ashes Subscribe to rss feed for Phoenix_Ashes

Lonely Highway man, sad and down
His whiskey glass on the table now
He puts down his gun and breathes a sigh
Leans back on his chair and breathes a sigh
He's been tracked here, now theres no escape
A cold sweat breaks out on his nape
A lion most dangerous in sight of it's end
But he is grizzled, in sight of his end
He rubs his rough stubble and looks out
The dawn is approaching like the men for the bout
A trickle of light enters and he smiles
Memories of where he went, all those miles
The dust is stirred by an adventurous rat
Expecting the man to rise, instead he sat
He slowly closes his eyes taking in the sun
The light goes in through his pores and they are one
He hears a shout, the hooves of horse
He stands up proud, with no remorse
