Mountains, by ladypink Subscribe to rss feed for ladypink

This path I choose
Has been long and heartbreaking
With so many obstacles
Some, my own making

Sometimes I climb mountains
Bloodied and battered I ascend
I have reached the peak
And climbed down again

Tired and forsaken
I rest at the end
Look back at my struggles
And started again

So many mountains
So many lofts
So much effort
At what cost?

Each day a struggle
Each day a hill
Bloodied and battered
I wearily climb still

Give me a day
Without struggle or pain
Just one day
I'll welcome the gain

Where are the meadows
And fields of moss
Where to lay down
And count my loss

I want to chase rainbows
With butterflies dance
If only these mountains
Would give me a chance

Please, no more mountains
I've had my share
Give me sunshine and rainbows
To wear in my hair

Give me meadows and fields
With blossoms aflower
And soft green grass
If only for an hour

Somewhere to rest
My weary heart
Just for a while
And then I will start

To climb again.

this is a really nice poem. you really sucked me in and i could almost see, you know metaphorically, you climbing mountains and the field and etc. and it easy to tell how the mountains and the meadows etc equate with problems and hardships and the desired state of happiness. wicked poem.
