My Gift To You, by David Davis
|
Existing in dark sadness
I bask in your radiant beauty
From afar
Your sapphire eyes illuminate this void
Your smile brightens my dejected soul
Envying the wind breathing through your hair
Touching your lips
I long to embrace you
Tucking your small frame into my chest
But I cannot
Your heart belongs to another
Like watching a baseball game from behind a fence
At a distance
Uninvolved
Restricted from action
Friendship means more to me
Than anything
But Like an Angel, you’ve touched the deepest part of me
In a way I’ve never known
Love unbeknown to me
Until you
I know we are only friends
Yet my heart wishing it to be more
Hoping and dreaming
That one-day, your gentle lips will caress mine
And I can say, "I Love You"
