Light

you can catch me
cage me
your light attracted me
and tricked me in
i flew around
and then hit the ground.

rip my wings off
burn me
torture me
but i won't give up.

i wont be squished
i wont let go
i wont stop fighting
for whats right
in my heart i know.

i want to be free
free to love myself
any anyone else
free jst to be

and even if you win
i am but one
there are millions of us
we infest your schools
your towns
your cities

taking teh wings of one
empowers the others
witha new zest
a new thrist, a new quest.

so pin me down
and label me your
latin names
make me some commodity
for your walls
i'm just as beautiful
as any butterfly
and i've tried hard
just as any moth
that falls.

it was so worth it.
