Rabbit vs. Fox © By Artemis Quill 3/10/2025 “No problems, overwhelmed with blessings” The emerald lawn, a tempting spread, Where Pipkin nibbled, small and red-eyed, fed. Freshly cropped, the scent so sweet, A rabbit's paradise, a tasty treat. But shadows lengthen, sun descends, And Reynard watches, patience never ends. A flicker of red, a glint of gold, A hungry story, centuries old. Pipkin, distracted by the tender shoot, Felt danger prickling, a chilling root. He saw the fox, a sleek, sly form, And knew this feeding would weather a storm. A twitch of whiskers, a silent bound, Reynard lunged across the hallowed ground. Pipkin, a blur of fur and fear, Leapt into action, senses clear. The chase was on, a frantic race, Across the green, at breakneck pace. Pipkin zig-zagged, a darting sprite, Reynard gaining, bathed in fading light. He dodged a rosebush, a thorny trap, Reynard stumbled, felt the sting and snap. Pipkin, exploiting the briefest pause, Squeezed through a fence, defying nature's laws. He burrowed deep, beneath the shed, Leaving Reynard panting, filled with dread. The fox, defeated, with a frustrated sigh, Watched the entrance, beneath the darkening sky. Pipkin, safe within his earthen lair, Heard Reynard pacing, filled with despair. The contest won, by cunning and by speed, A hungry fox, a rabbit's urgent need. Tomorrow's dawn will bring another chase, But for tonight, Pipkin found his grace. He outsmarted Reynard, bold and sly, And lived to nibble 'neath tomorrow's sky.
