The Need

Have you ever felt the need for things
Like love or faith or hope
Could you get by alone in life
Do you believe that you would cope

If asked to give more than you could
Would you give without a thought
When someone hurts you way too much
Would you forgive no matter what

Could you take the awful pain that comes
When a loved one passes on
Or in times of real despair
Could you survive if on your own

No life can pass without some hurt
Or sadness, grief or pain
But with the help of family and friends
We’ll bear up time and time again

If you’ve been blessed with caring friends
And family that fills your heart with glee
No one can ask for any more
There is no “Happiness” guarantee

So we all will feel the need sometimes
For love or faith or hope
We all need that “Human Touch”
Without which we couldn’t cope

We all can hold our heads up high
If we have shared these sort of needs
Love, faith and hope to keep us strong
In all our words and deeds.
