The Feud, by Shauna DesJardins Subscribe to rss feed for Shauna DesJardins

Adrenaline runs high,
Energy on Overdrive.
Titanium teeth sinking in,
Claws of fury thrashing skin.

Big dogs with big bites
Tear and rip at others' bones.
Clashing and smashing,
Unmerciful and unforgiving.

Relentlessly attacking,
Not knowing what's coming.
For every jugular he rips out,
That's another terror he's seen.

If you look closely,
There in the middle,
There's a lost omega in the pack
Not knowing who's side to choose.

He loves both sides 'cuz both are family.
But yet their feud has torn them apart.
They were all once as one,
But bad blood split them in two.

The mighty packs fought,
And fought, and fought.
They didn't realize they were only in the eye of the storm.
And the real war was about to begin.

The tornado bucked, and twisted, and kicked.
But not so soon would the dogs give in.

Brother killed brother,
And sister killed sister.
Father killed father,
And mother killed mother.

They were fighting for what they sought was right.
They were fighting for what they thought was just.

But what is so just that one's brother must die?
What is so right they can't compromise?
Well if nothing else, there should be a middle ground.
A peaceful place, where all can gather 'round.

A place where feuds are set aside.
A place where things are currently forgotten.
Just for the time being, a safe place,
Of sanctuary and peacefulness.

Where all of one's troubles,
Are left behind.
And for once the world,
Can just let go.
