Never alone, by eleanor maslen Subscribe to rss feed for eleanor maslen

the sun was up
the weather warm
we weren't ready
for the impending storm

we didnt hear his voice
calling daddy home
some of us went with you
you didnt go alone

i remember crying
the pain inside my chest
when they told me daddy
would soon be laid to rest

the church was pretty full
you were a great man
and as they bought you in
everyone began to stand

in our silent pray
we wished you a safe farewell
we gave ourselves to god
as he took your empty shell

around your grave we stood
each hand in hand
as we bid goodbye
to the worlds greatest man

we each dropped a lilly
into your new home
were you'll stay forever
but never ever alone
