The Silence of Snow, by Leslie Thomson Subscribe to rss feed for Leslie Thomson

Fluffy and fluttering,
Soft and soothing;
I never cease to amaze
At the silence of snow.

Snow muffles,
Silences all.
Brings peace to the city;
Tranquility to the countryside.

Traffic noise is muted;
Muffled by the drifts,
It dies away,
In the quintessential  quietness.

Even the birds fall silent,
Somehow sensing,
This is something special,
That they dare not disturb.

Walk in it;
Look around
At the mind-hurting beauty,
Of pure white fields,
Bringing  calm to the world.

Take a breath;
Smell it’s freshness;
Taste the ice on your tongue.
Even your breath shall be calmed.

Stand still,
And listen carefully
To nothing,
Just the silence of snow.
