Teen Writing #7: The Life I Wish I Had Had

By jwhwz •
This is the life that I wish I had had;
I wish I grew up knowing my real Dad.
I wish that when I was one, I shouldn't have had to say,
"Goodbye, Dave",
For a sad little road in life, that event paved.
I wish I hadn't had to have brain surgery at three;
I could have been a healthy person everyone wants to be.
I wish I weren't neglected by my parents and my doctor;
It was like someone put a slow bullet in a gun and cocked 'er.
For, I slowly and surely deteriorated;
Because the people to whom I am related very truly and faithfully hated;
The idea of going to doctors of Western Medicine;
Their minds, into space, surely jettisoned.
I wish I had grown up healthy;
Into a family which was always wealthy;
Of a lot of common sense;
But I wasn't; my parents were very dense.
But, I had to move on with my years of pain;
Which added to making me insane.
However, now I can be happy with my own life;
Because, although I still have strife; I am happy to be Jacob's common-law wife.
I hope that one day, he can legally be my mate;
Because, without that, it's like we're on one long date!
