My Life's Beginning: 1974-2009

You lose your natural father at the age of one; And all of you life's problems have just begun. You have a brain tumor at 3 years of age; And, it makes your body cry and cry with rage. You remember cassettes that show you were really smart; And that was temporarily lost, but you still had your heart. You had a surgery and might have died; But, all you did was cried and cried. You had to learn basic functions again; And no one knew if there would be a time when; You would fully recover; The future was just a blur. You went to school, and everything seemed fixed; But, up your body was still mixed and mixed. You passed your grades with flying clouds; And, at fifth grade your emotions were less and less proud. Fifth grade was awful, sixth, seventh, especially eighth, and ninth, as well; But, that was just the beginning of your hell. Then came high school, and it turned worse; It's enough to make a devoted nun curse. You obtained a scholarship to college; To try to get through and maybe gain some knowledge. But, after a while, you couldn't get out of bed; You were so drained, it didn't matter what any caring soul said. And finally your doctor advised a test; Maybe that's why you needed so much rest. The test proved that you had much fluid on your brain; That is why you've been acting so insane. Then you had surgery on the Ides of March in 1993; It had been postponed; of course, it had to be!
