The Division of Freedom and Society, by Markuz Subscribe to rss feed for Markuz

He sat on the beach without a care,
water at his feet, the wind in his hair.
Consumed by the sand and the ocean and sky
he forgets his confusions, delusions, and lies...

and he feels he can fly.

Escaping the world with an ocean-front view;
the only thing real in his world of un-truth.
His smiles and clients know not the same life;
the first brings him joy; the latter brings strife...

but the beach gives him flight.

Bathed in the moon, he watches it dance
on the dark ocean surface; he rarely finds chance.
He basks in the moment, his spirit renewed.
Freedom from bondage, restriction, and feud...

he is lost in the night.

and yet, he is found;
he is kept safe and sound.
and looking around for another like him.
but soon he sees that no one is pleased
with the life that they lead
and with God they plead
for a life much like his
unlike theirs, which is constantly busy.

then he looks to the ocean
the moon and the sky;
and then to the city
and people and lies.
though he knew for some time
now he could see
the division of freedom and society.
