Unrequited, by Tara Maslen Subscribe to rss feed for Tara Maslen

Sorrowful eyes, heart of stone,
Oh to be needed, yet still alone.

Wanted in dreams, but never by day,
Cursed with the misfortune of having to stay,
Alone, unloved, not needed, deprived,
Of the hearts fondest wish,
Of dignity, of pride.

Standing naked for all to see,
Heart stripped bare,by him, by he.
He the tormentor, destroyer of souls,
Bringer of sadness, of untold woes.

Yet he brings the sunshine when he smiles,
And his eyes light up the sky.
Still my heart lies dark and empty,
But to him I lie.

So kind, so nice,
So sweet, so caring,
And I know in my heart that I sholud be daring.
Yet strings hold me back,
And tie me down,
Yet when they release me,
He's never around.

My feelings are not to be toyed with or used,
My heart has bled too much,
And is used to being abused.

I'll smile at him,
Whenever he walks by,
And when he passes,
I'll gently sigh.

He'll never be mine,
I know this is true,
So for now my dreams will have to do.
