Its Later Than You Think, by Lisa Marie Cole Subscribe to rss feed for Lisa Marie Cole

Its getting late
Its time to go
The last song played
The end of the show

A stiff upper lip
And a fading smile
I've been 2nd place
In your life all the while

I've been the consolation
I've ignored the manipulation
I am the glass of wine
That numbs the sad mind

What once felt like fire
Is now a bird on a wire
Walking the tight rope
Of madness and fading hope

Thought I could wait
That one day you would see
That we were the dream
All along it was me

But, that day never came
It has all been in vain
You're in love with another
I'm just the haven for cover

The ear for your problems
The port in the storm
And, when you've felt lonely
I've been there to warm

But, no more abiding
I can no longer stay
Its my tender heart
I can no longer betray
