All Hallows Eve, by amanda rutter Subscribe to rss feed for amanda rutter

When sprites and witches claim the night
And Godly souls hide out of sight.
When spells are cast and chants abound
And spirits rise from under ground.
This hallowed night when thin the veil
That stretches across the hills and dales,
Between the living and the dead,
Is sometimes parted, or so it’s said.
A night of magic, of eerie calls
Of pumpkin heads in candled halls.
And children dressed to walk the streets
With bags gripped tight stuffed full with sweets.
There on her own her huddled form
Wrapped tight in cloak to keep her warm,
The hedge witch casts for 12months hence,
Her gaze and steady voice intense.
This night I love for all it’s charm
And keep my word to “ do no harm” .
