Lady Starlight, by bobbi Subscribe to rss feed for bobbi

You promised forever and I said,
That's a long time...still you held me close
and your cried in my hair and we ordered two tacos to go.

We drove to the beach (and on a school night)
but we took the long way because who cares?

We parked and got out and sat by the water
the edge of the earth we agreed at midnight..as
the water glowed almost fake in the dark, as we sat,
that night, at the beach..

We slept until dawn and woke to the rain and all I could
think about that day in class,
is that it felt funny to be so sleepy at school and
did everyone know

how madly in love that I was?

Fast forward thirty years and here I still am,
thinking how funny it is that you don't seem to remember
those eighteen years we spent making plans, having memories
for a lifetime, now filling my head.

You don't even know how much I just want to turn back and
just for a night, under station 17, drink daquiri's of
strawberry and find meaning in the starlight as the
scorpions cut deeply into my forever and now.
