~ Depression ~

The night was dark, there was no sight
Not even the moon would give much light
A layer of mist upon the land
The road was muddy, rocks and sand
The water around was dark and deep
The rain fell slowly, the skies did weep
No animals here, they found no rest
in surroundings so depressed …

‘t Was there he walked, alone and slow,
his shoulders down, his head hung low
His eyes half closed, expression sad
‘t was not the easiest time he had.
His feet, they walked the empty road
and struggled with a heavy load
The burdens loaded on his back
were like a mountain-weighting sack
His mind a whirl of darkest thought
his feelings felt the pain it brought
The pain that went right through the core…
He felt he could go on no more…

And so he sat, and sighed, and wept
with that, the feelings did adept
with all around, he gave up hope
and from his waist he took a rope
He hung it from the tallest tree
So that it was, just let it be…
He put the rope around his neck
then climbed up high, did not look back
Then he looked down, was soon to die…
he looked around… and said goodbye…

Now, in the early morning light
He there lay still, so sad a sight…
But softly then the wind did blow
and through him did a shiver go
A sunray touched him through the trees
And look! He rose upon his knees
He slowly smiled as he looked around
What, yesterday, took him to the ground?
He remembered looking up
A sunray beaming through the top
A bird that sang it's little song
and suddenly, the day’d begun
A warm feeling spread throughout his soul
and he slowly started to feel whole…
And he knew that he could find a way
to lose his troubles with each day
He looked around, and understood
his life still had a lot of good.
He laughed and suddenly started to run…
out of the darkness… and into the sun!
