"Snare", by Wingless Subscribe to rss feed for Wingless

The copious devil invited me to the underworld for a while.
As he bargained for the token of my soul with a fickle
smile.
He spoke in rhymes and riddles that I could not comprehend.
So I asked what could be done, so I did not meet my end.

"I drugged and dragged your mental state, to this haunted
lair.
It is an insult to try and outwit me, so I simply wouldn't
dare.
Bring forth attack to escape this realm?, there really is no
need.
Because I'm truly heartless, I therefore do not bleed.
I can offer an elixir, to mimic joy, but really numb.
I like to sit back and watch the madness you become.
It'll taste good I promise! You're tempted I can see?
Come on! Let it seduce you! Why don't you dance with me?
I love to lead astray, in this world it's what I do.
I'm parallel to the angel that also sits with you."

Although I feel weakness, my mind is very much alive.
I must make a decision, and somehow manage to survive.
Could I give him my clarity in exchange for an escape?
Although once my mind is savaged there is not much left to
take.
my temple of a body, or my gemstone eyes.
mere jewels for him to play with or to use as a disguise.
To walk among normality and whisper in my ear.
"Do you bad things young lady, you have nothing left to
fear."

This is a pretty good poem. I like the story it tells. Keep writing!
