When I Could Roam Unfretted, by Alex J Subscribe to rss feed for Alex J

Pull the wool over my eyes,
Make me feel secure.
For all this confusion all around,
Is not something I wish to endure.

Bring back a time when I was young
When everything was bright with colour
A time when everything was easier,
Nights when I would sit cuddled with my mother.

A place and time of hope
Hope for the future, positiveness.
How far our hope has fallen
Our old hopes and dreams now known to be ridiculous.

Now people care about other things
More ‘important’ things obscure
Their minds, their hearts, their souls
Some things that for which we know no cure.

Give me back the times now lost
The times where unfretted we would roam
A time when we did not know so much
A time when we thought we were safe in our home.

All the innocence and naivety
We once dwelt in, sweet bliss
For is knowledge so much better?
Would anyone consider this something they miss?

Give me back the days when I was younger,
When I could roam unfretted.
