Crescent Heart, by Brian R. Velasquez Subscribe to rss feed for Brian R. Velasquez

It knows not the angst of day
Only the comfort of night
Free from feeling
Pleasantly devoid of sight

It slumbers in ignorance
Guarded by the parental dark
Repelling the worrisome light
Maintaining the temporary bark

Ambiguity fills it’s candid mind
Fear presides over the lost naďve soul
Falsifying feelings of virtue
A mediocre life begins to unfold

Several dormant dreams stir
Maturity’s identifying aches
Evoking undulant emotions
Reaping consciousness of its fate

Excavating suppressed illuminations
Delinquent stars roam the sky
Perforating the caressing shadow
Awakening repressed cries

The elusive Sun emerges
The Moon away is forced to fly
Introducing the sodden
Banishing the dry

Terrifying, exasperating new life
Unknown feelings pour into the void
Combating civil comfort, contentment
A stage of life impossible to avoid
