Shield of Truth, by Anthony Cardon Subscribe to rss feed for Anthony Cardon

The shields of light
Are not blinding to my eyes.
It covers my soul like a blanket
And comforts me with soft sighs.
Yet, as strong as I am with tis,
No one knows what's inside,
Underneath the shield
Is my secret side.
In contrast to the heavenly glory
That depicts my public nature
Is the darkness that weeps
And is overtly immature.
The side that I kept hidden
From my most intimate friends,
Is filled with horrors of hell
Only thought by fiends.
I am not what they say I am,
Though they will not believe,
The side that hides from them,
It my soul shall conceive.
That is why I write this poem
To let it all out
So I can whisper quietly
And not have to shout.
