I clamber down to the waters edge
One bare foot placed
It’s my first step to freedom.
A thousand and one needles
Stabbing at my skin
I bite down hard, wade further in.
Trespassing this murky liquid
Moving on without fear
It’s no more threatening
Than the life I leave here.
Arms spread wide
I throw myself back
Awaiting the unknown
And the final attack.
Falling deeper into the mystery
Of this once placid lake
Now savaging my body
My soul in its wake.
I take one last look up
And let go of regrets
Gently laid at the bottom
Im prepared for my rest.
Goodbye cruel world
Wallow in your victory
Shame on you all
For you did this to me.
