Opening Pages, by bedazzled Subscribe to rss feed for bedazzled

Muted light smoothes over us,
the curtains standing guard.
It’s all there:
      everything,
written in your eyes…
    Bold words that flash
    with every blink
    and glow from beneath lashes.
It’s all I can do,
takes all my strength
just to look straight back.

//Stop pretending,
there's no mending,
we've already choked on ‘sorry’.
Stuck in cages,
opening pages,
we can't rewrite our story.//

Warm air shifts around us,
no space beneath your hold.
It’s hard to stop,
      we were everything,
but mistakes have intervened…
      Dulled glitter:
      no one wants to see
      us hold hands anymore.
It’s hard to breathe,
takes all my will
to try and turn away.

_Words just aren’t enough,
they’re weightless now
because they’ve all been said
before.
Forgiveness is distant,
we can not retreat
because we’ve already closed
the door.
I’m hating this,
all these ‘I love you’s
keep hanging on
for more._

//Stop believing,
just start breathing
and forget about each 'sorry'.
No more taking,
just more breaking
'cause I'm finished with this story.//
