a Never-ending Dream, by Gothic Angel Subscribe to rss feed for Gothic Angel

I sit at the base of a big oak tree,
leaning on the trunk,
sitting on the lushoius green grass,

i start to drift off to sleep.

It's midnight,
i awake to the soft hoot of a nearby owl.
THe rustling of the grass around me,
and the soft hiss of the wind,
disturbing the leaves of the tree that sits above me.

I look around,
the glow of the slowly opening moon lilies catch my eye,
I look up at the endless midnight sky,
shimmering with a blanket of stars.

I get up to walk,
the earth is soft beneath my feet,
the air crisp and cool on my face.

I walk over to a small pond,
it's surface like glass
i bend down to take a drink,
cupping my hands into a bowl.

the water ripples as me hands break the surface,
the owl stops hooting,
the wind stops hissing,
the leaves of the great oak tree still,
the moon lillies close,
the stars stop shimmering,
the perfect peace had been disturbed.

i blink.

When i open my eyes i find myself
sitting at the base of a big oak tree,
leaning on the trunk,
sitting on the luscious green grass.

i start to drift off to sleep...
