all things concidered

my baby went to school today, same as always, but today my baby didn't come home. it's one of those things- been happening to other people all around this country- now its my turn. somebody drove up in a car with a bomb- ran into the side of my baby's bus- killed a lot of children... killed a lot of adults too. then again, everybody is somebody's child. its one of those things you think will only happen over there- not over here. its one of those facts of living here, in this war torn, bitter, country, that is utterly true and heartless- an undeniable fact. my baby went to school today, same as always, but today my baby didn't come home. i am thinking, whoever reads this, you will immediately name one country, one thats in the news, one that you all assume this kind of thing happens in, that i am living in- but i am guessing you won't name your own. you won't say i am from france, england, germany, italy, spain... the western world, and God forbid you name the united states- these things don't happen in 'civilized' places. you will name iraq, afghanistan, someplace in the middle east, or somewhere in africa- one of those wild, strange places always in the news. sorry, delusioned reader- but you're wrong. all things concidered, i might just be you.
