Sand Storm, by bedazzled Subscribe to rss feed for bedazzled

Long ago she was oblivious,
Sparkling and unaware,
Of the poison in the paintwork...
Waiting.
Confidence shimmered,
In a world seen through fairytale eyes,
Marble pillars soon to crumble.
Self-worth was hidden somewhere in a mirror,
Laughter was vaccuumed from her.
Emptiness and despair invaded,
Screaming from every lowered glance,
But ignored.
The problems of her support stole oxygen,
Her own hidden in the veneer.
She'd exposed her smile to _him_,
And he saw it through the mist,
But walked away.
His feelings were sand in a storm,
They slashed into the wind,
Easily discarded.
  Hatred.
How she hated him.
So deeply that she murdered why,
And in the process,
She asphyxiated herself.
It hurt that she could point all blame inwardly,
Blame for everything,
            everything,
              everything wrong.
Forgotten by long sleeves, lines told a tale,
A ballad sung by a razor blade,
Train tracks to nowhere.
The only drops that fell from her,
Were red.
Lullabies whispered hope into shadows,
One bullet to the next.
She saw _him_,
He was smiling,
His turquoise eyes blazing heat.
Suddenly she remembered how to laugh,
As he smoothed honey over the pain,
And left sugar footprints on her mind,
Stomping out the depression he'd unknowingly created.
Her heart was barricaded,
For she'd learnt, she'd grown.
She stood,
Curtsied,
And they kissed.
