They told us 16 is the perfect age
It's the best stage
Oh if only they could recapture their youth
They say we're doing it wrong
I wonder what we did
We grew up like you said we should
But it's happening much too fast
If you want to be young again here take my place
There's more inside than just a pretty face
Do you see what I see from where I stand
There's a man with a knife in his hand
To kill a girl not much older than me
There's a boy, only 16 who lost his life on his birthday
And would you like to see the last smile that 17 year old
smiled
The next day his life was gone'
She's unsure
She doesn't feel so pure
She cuts her arm just to feel any kind of anything
A mass shooting at school
It seems like anyone who'll stand up will be shot down
His head's bashed in
Just a week to live
It hurts more than you thought
But he's still alive and so am I
We'll get through it alright
License in hand I'm ready for the quicksand
It's not fair and it's definitely not right
16, I shouldn't see the world this way
But this is my life
This is my right
Is this what you told me is fun
