No Fairytale, by bedazzled Subscribe to rss feed for bedazzled

It was fine when all you could see was the smile,
The blonde hair and the blue eyes,
But when the truth dropped with all of it's weight,
There was too much to despise,
With the curtains open and the pain quite clear,
The emotional baggage was undesired,
I understand why you no longer want me,
Who wants love that leaves you tired?
You weren't supposed to find out,
The mirage wasn't supposed to slip,
But as usual I'm left without a choice,
In your hands I watch the coin flip,
So you were supposed to pull me up,
But you stopped when you saw what was pulling me down,
And the smile shattered into teardrops,
The happiness faded away to a frown,

Who cares right?
Who needs you?
Not me, no I'm doing okay,
No need to fight,
Nothing I can do,
Except step into another day,

You can see the exit sign glowing,
On the other side of the room,
It's so much easier to step into the light,
Than to fight away the gloom,
There's so much choice and so many smiles,
It's simple to forget about me,
Your point of view is obvious to all,
No modern-day knight, no chivalry,
The princess can spend her life in the tower,
Why risk getting burnt to a crisp?
Plenty of other knights out there,
Guard your own happiness,
I'm strong now and I'm fighting,
I'm making it through,
And the most exciting part is,
I'm doing it without you,

Who cares right?
Who needs you?
Not me, no I'm doing okay,
No need to fight,
Nothing I can do,
Except step into another day,

No need for hope,
No need for wishes,
I don't need a fantasy,
I can cope,
No imagined kisses,
Who cares right?
Oh yeah, me.
