My ancestors have stood
On long ships shaped like dragons
And on vessels heading to America
Under the same stars, a thousand years between
I was born to a sunrise over mountains
Far from the ocean
Lived a life in the desert
And dreamed in the stars
This is my past
Today I run on concrete
Tell stories to friends of magic
On the dying lawn
And I laugh in the rain.
I dance to my own music
However clumsily
And though I now know their distances from me,
I still dream in the stars.
This is my present
Who am I? That is the question
Which my future will become. |
