Our Sovereign Rights, by Robin Goodwin Subscribe to rss feed for Robin Goodwin

The Argentines still play their game of diplomatic
pressure.
Totally ignoring what we want and everything we treasure.
Since Captain John Davis discovered this land in 1592.
The Argentines have tried to claim what belongs to me and
you.

Dictators that we know they are, yes they even went to war.
To take this land away from us, as they’ve tried so hard
before.
But Britain would have none of that, they’d never leave us
alone.
A task force came to fight for us and the enemy soon was
gone.

But that’s not stopped the evil mind, of the Argentine
dictator.
The pressure’s on they think they’ll win, sooner rather
than later.
Now a British garrison is stationed here to keep the
aggressors out.
Now that we have all this protection, the Argies only whinge
and shout.

Heaven forbid the day may come, the British soldiers may go
home.
The Argies again may seize their chance, because they
won’t leave us alone.
Sometime soon oil wells will grow, around these pristine
shores.
If it does you can rest assured, it will open new political
doors.

No way will the Argentines give up their claim, They want
what we have got.
Even though there in the wrong, unless they win they will
not stop.
They’ve tried every trick that’s in the book, to win our
hearts and mind.
But we’re far to clever for all of that, we’re not the
wooing kind.

We desire the right to remain British, forever and a day.
That is our right we took a vote, It’s the way we want to
stay.
The Argentines wouldn’t like it much, if we tried to claim
their land.
They’d run straight to the united nations, to get a
helping hand.

If the powers of the world were wise, we’re sure they’d
understand.
These Islands belong to no one else, but the Kelpers of this
land.
Leave us alone to live our lives, just the way that you live
yours.
Just recognise our Kelpers rights, and close the political
doors.

So why can’t the Argentines live in peace and total
harmony.
Without the need to threaten us as so often seems to be.
Why can’t they accept us for who we are instead picking
fights.
Let us live the way we choose and keep our sovereign
rights.
