A Gift Returned, by Susan Sargis Subscribe to rss feed for Susan Sargis

A child died today.

Not one that I knew, or you knew, or even his own mother
knew. But one that God knew. One that God had designed,
and created.

He made his hair the color of wheat, and created his eyes to
be the color of that part of the ocean, that on an early,
cloud free day, you can’t tell if it’s green, or blue,
but somewhere in between.

He took great joy in creating that color, and was looking
forward to seeing those eyes look into the eyes of his
mother for the first time.

God wanted her to know how much he loved her, and that he
was presenting her with this gift. A token of his love.
The hands he created to fit into hers, the feet he created
to tickle, and the belly button, to remind her of where this
child had been.

Sadly, she gave the gift back. Unopened. Unwanted.
   Unloved.

The reasons were many. They said she might have died. They
said the baby would have died. They said the baby was
made of tragic circumstances. They said it was for the
best.
But none of them knew of God’s plan. And none of them
cared enough to ask.

A baby died today.

Not one that I loved, or you loved, or sadly, even his
mother loved. But a baby that God loved.

And a baby that God alone, will cry for.

This is one of the saddest things I've ever read... *tear...*
