I try to step away from you,
stagger, off balance.
You reach for me again.
You take my hand,
you pull me back
even as you tell me
to go.
I try to stop listening,
I turn off my whispers
but you just start screaming
my name.
I come
when
you call.
I try to ice over my skin,
to become numb
but you keep touching me
and I melt.
I try to be blind,
to squeeze shut my eyes
but you stand before me,
shine light in my face.
You say you want space
but you hold me too close,
when I struggle you reach
for the binding.
You can't match your words
with the percussion of your heart
but I wish you'd let me
match mine.

love the themes of hot and cold throughout and the metaphors,"but you keep touching me/ and I melt" makes me feel like it's almost irritating. I REALLY LOVE THIS POEM!!!!!!!!
